Select Soccer Tryouts / 2021-2022 Season
What You Need to Know
(UPDATED APRIL 2021)
COVID PROTOCOLS AND CONSIDERATIONS:
The safety protocols as it relates to youth sports are in a state of evolution as WA State moves through the various Phases used to identify the level of restrictions in place to ensure the safety of our coaches, players and parents. With this in mind, we are asking that all players and parents be sure to understand and comply with the Safety Protocols the club has in place at the time of the tryouts.
We will continue to update this page with any changes to protocols as it relates specifically to our 2021 Tryouts.
Tryouts for each age group take place over a two-day period in May (See Tryout Schedule below) and will run approx. 90 minutes each day. We encourage all players to attend both days of tryouts. This gives our coaches and observers the maximum opportunity to evaluate the players to best determine placement on a team.
Registration for tryouts will be online only in light of recent safety considerations and to avoid crowding at the arrival area to the best of the club's ability. Registration for Bellevue United FC/Newport FC Tryouts is $20.00.
CHECK IN PROCESS:
We ask that all players do their best to arrive 15 minutes early to check in each day. Each player will receive a pinnie on the first day, to wear during tryouts. Players will keep their pinnie and turn it in at the end of the second day of tryouts. If a player can only attend one day of tryouts, they will return the pinnie at the end of that day. Players will be identified by the number on their pinnie, this will be used as notification of roster placement as well.
WHAT TO WEAR:
Players should wear appropriate soccer footwear, shin guards and bring their own water bottle and ball. As we continue to operate under safety protocols related to the COVID pandemic, it will be important your player does not share water bottles with other players.
Until further notice, players will be expected to continue wearing masks during tryouts.
Players may NOT wear current club or other club affiliated clothing. Players doing so will be asked to either remove the item of clothing or turn it inside out before being allowed on the field of tryouts. Tryouts are held rain or shine.
Players will be placed in age groups and will run through a series of drills, scrimmages and other technical sessions. Players will often be moved around in order to maximize assessment from the broader coaching staff.
Coaches will determine their preferred rosters following the final day of tryouts for each age group. Selected players for each roster will be posted using the number from their pinnie. Players are expected to accept or decline their offer via Sports Connect within 24 hours of email notification. If a player's number is not listed, he/she was not selected for a current team and the club will be in touch to discuss alternative options within our club!
Some coaches may choose to list alternate pinnie numbers for players who may be offered a roster spot in the event a player declines an offer.
There will be NO spectating allowed during tryouts. Please drop off and pick up only.
This schedule could change. Please check back periodically.
Attention High School Boys (2006 - 2003) - there will be no tryouts for high school boys this year due to scheduling conflicts with the high school season and Founders Cup finals weekend. Any new players interested in trying out for these teams, please contact the Select Registrar and register for free. The coach will contact you to invite your player out to regular training sessions for an evaluation. Returning players - the coach will be in contact with you. Final Roster Registration for the team will be open in May (TBD).
**Please note, in the event our 2021-2022 season gets cancelled or significantly delayed due to Covid-19, we will issue refunds and/or pro-rations to those that registered. This is different than what our normal refund policy states.**
