ONE TOWN. ONE TEAM.

This has been a challenging week for all in our community, and has pushed to the limelight the challenges that some in our community grapple with every day. Earlier this week Bellevue United FC released a statement on social media, and we would like to expand on that statement here.

Why should our youth sports organization make a statement?

  • While few of our athletes will go on to be professional athletes, they are all community members, and will all become adults.

  • The fundamental reasons we sign our children up for sports are to have fun and learn life lessons, as well as the game: respect, teamwork, sportsmanship, accountability, community, friendship, health and physical activity.

  • Racism, injustice and violence are incompatible with the values we teach, inspire and promote within youth sports; our players are not oblivious to, or immune from, current events or their own life experiences.

  • We as a youth sports community want to double-down on our role, responsibility and purpose. We exist to provide a safe and fun environment focused on respect, teamwork, sportsmanship, accountability, community, friendship and health. We will do our part to eradicate racism, injustice and violence.

We are One Town. One Team. Thank you for being a valuable part of our community.
